The Red Lands
It was the land, actually, that had the power to draw the people from the four directions and even from across the ocean. It was the clarion call coming from the place of the red lands. It was a call from the dirt, red as blood beneath its cover of grassy green...yes, that was what drew them, and once there, it held them fast.
The Journey
The little girl lost her parents at age five, and for the next ten years, she helped raise her cousins. Then the trouble really began. After a lot of work, two gunshots, and a trip of several hundred miles, she knew without a doubt that she had reached the place of her destination...the place where the cloud should show its silver lining. Where was it, anyway?

—ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Ms. Joann Klusmeyer is the daughter of pioneer missionary parents. She grew up in rural Arkansas and learned and served in the little country church her father built and then pastored. Ms. Klusmeyer is a prolific author with over 50 titles to her credit (and counting).
