Sometimes the best surprises reveal the most shocking secrets.

After three decades of marriage, Brenda Jones has decided to leave her husband, just as soon as they both return from a mystery trip with their daughter Zara. But she has no idea that Zara is flying them to Las Vegas to renew their vows.

Zara Jones has recreated almost every detail of her parent’s original wedding - now her only challenge is tracking down the two friends who were pictured with her mum and dad back in 1993.

Aiden Gregg is dealing with his own relationship woes when he receives an unexpected message from a complete stranger. WIth the help of Facebook, Zara has tracked him down and is asking if his parents are the other couple in the old photo? And if so, could he bring them to Vegas for a surprise reunion?

What Zara and Aiden don’t know is that thirty years ago, One Moment In Time changed everything.

Will rewinding the clock right the wrongs of the past?

Or are they all counting down to a rendezvous with disaster?

One voice is not enough

A surprise anniversary party for Brenda and Colin becomes a surprise for Zara and Millie. It’s Brenda and Colin’s thirtieth wedding anniversary in a few weeks. The girls wanted to celebrate with a surprise party at the place they got married.

For all characters involved in the celebration time has changed their lives. Going back to where it all began exposes secrets that the girls were unaware of. Being back at the place it began drums up hurtful memories of a friendship that was lost.

One Moment in Time is about finding perspective on choices made thirty years ago. Brenda has spent the last few years contemplating divorce. Aidan has spent the last few days contemplating his impulsive decision to marry a woman he barely knows. Eileen spent years feeling angry with her choice to marry a self absorbed man. Zara spent eight years with a guy who doesn’t seem to care about her.

Helen McAlpine was the solo female performer. I loved the Scottish accent. Helen wasn’t consistent with the voices. I struggle with performers who try to voice both male and female characters. One minute the voice of Eileen was sweet and feminine and the next it was masculine. Not many people can achieve this level of talent.

This read is a solid three stars there were some great solid moments, but not enough to warrant a higher rating. It’s not a five because I was not buzzing with excitement to read and listen. The only thing holding this story together was the big secret. Even when the secret was revealed I had already begun to figure it out for myself.

This is my first time reading a Shari Low book. The great thing about prime reading is the ability to borrow a book and return it. It also allows readers to read books by new authors who you might not be aware of. Plus it’s free to prime members.

Loved the accent

The characters are all very likable & their stories are mostly interesting. The problem for me was that it moved very slow w/ too much description for each plot line. Others may enjoy the pace or maybe it would be better in book form.

Did not finish.

I couldn’t finish this title so please regard this review as a not really qualified opinion of someone who only managed to get through 4 hours of it before throwing in the towel.

I generally listen to crime fiction and police procedurals but thought I’d go for something lighter, that was a mistake. I found this book to be overly clichéd with tired jokes, stereotypical characters and predictable scenarios. Despite not having finished it I am pretty sure I could have solid guess at where the story was going and how it would all end.

All very dull.

The narrator wasn’t bad but the shrill voices adopted for some of the characters were excruciating to listen to and the American accents uncomfortable.

I wouldn’t recommend this one.
