Resumen del Editor

Molly Murphy's beau Captain Daniel Sullivan may be out of jail on bail, but he's still a ways from clearing his name, and his foul mood has Molly in search of a little breathing room when providence steps in in the form of a proposition from New York City's renowned theatrical impresario Tommy Burke.

America has been very good to Tommy, and now that he's getting on in years, he'd like to pass some of that good fortune on to his family back in Ireland. That's, of course, if Molly can find the long-lost baby sister his family left in the care of a parish priest when they fled the famine and avoid the warrant out for her arrest that forced Molly to flee herself. Tempted by the prospect of going home for the first time in years and putting her fledging detective agency on firm financial ground, Molly throws caution to the wind and climbs aboard the White Start Liner Majestic with hopes of sneaking on and off the isle without raising a peep.

But even before Molly lands on the other side of the Atlantic, Broadway's leading actress, Oona Sheehan, has gone missing from the ship, and her maid is found dead in her cabin.

Full of rich historic detail and enchanting turn-of-the-century personalities, Molly's return home, In Dublin's Fair City, is the sixth thrilling installment in Rhys Bowen's award-winning Molly Murphy series.

love the series

I just love the cleanness of the series, no bad language, no explicit sex, etc. The narrator puts enough excitement to keep it interesting.

a bit darker than anticipated

spoiler alert. Molly takes an assignment overseas and we lose track of all her friends and companions in New York. Unfortunately, no one steps up to take their place and Molly is off on her own. The story takes a dark turn into Ireland's politics and Molly finds herself heavily involved. The ending leaves much to be desired in that it doesn't explore or really wrap up the Pandora's box that it opens. Molly just comes home leaving everything left behind hanging in uncertainty. I just felt the story was a bit out of place for Molly's New life.

Wonderful twists

This may be the my favorite Rhys Bowen book to date. The new characters, multiple locations away from NY, twists and turns all while encompassing a bit history made it so I could not stop listening.

More Gripping than Usual

This was an interesting story with lots of twists and turns, but the end was kind of abrupt.

Quite Brilliant

Rhys Bowen's Mollly Murphy series never lacks for excitement. "in Dublin's Fair City" Molly's innocuous return to Ireland on behalf of a client takes unusual twists and turns. Ms. Bowen captures the mood, the glamour and the politics of the time, while building another great story.

Fresh Irish Adventure in Molly Murphy #6

"In Dublin's Fair City," Book 6 in Rhys Bowen's celebrated Molly Murphy series, sees Molly embarking on a captivating adventure back to Ireland, marking her first return since fleeing to America. Offered a case by the theatrical impresario Tommy Burke to locate his long-lost sister, Molly seizes the opportunity to not only reconnect with her roots but also to bolster her fledgling detective agency. However, the journey aboard the White Star Liner Majestic turns intriguing when Broadway’s leading actress, Oona Sheehan, disappears and her maid is found dead, throwing Molly into the midst of another mystery even before she reaches Ireland.

This installment is richly woven with the historical details of the early 1900s, bringing to life the lush landscapes of Ireland and the dynamic neighborhoods of Dublin. The change of setting provides a refreshing break from Molly's New York escapades and her complicated relationship with Captain Daniel Sullivan. The narrative is engaging, filled with twists that showcase Molly’s detective prowess against a vivid historical backdrop. "In Dublin’s Fair City" is a delightful addition to the series, offering fans a deeper look into Molly’s heritage while maintaining the charm and suspense they love.
