When she is not extolling the pleasures of a glass of fine wine, Kate Wilhelm tells a fine story of murder and mystery in the State of Oregon. This is another entertaining adventure of Barbara Holloway and her cast of supporting characters. The Plot is well done and moves at a good pace. However, the story is a bit slow to develop. Narration is very well done and is a solid addition to this book. Recommend this for lovers of the genre.

Good listen
I always enjoy Kate Wilhelm's books. The story is always intersting with good solid characters and the narration is good.

Narration makes all the difference
The story is good, but the narrator makes all the female characters sound weak, histrionic, or like valley girls.
I miss Anna Fields.

not the best if you like the courtroom drama.
I enjoy Kate Wilhelm's series about her lady lawyer Barbara. I especially like the courtroom where Barbara really shines her cross examinations are wonderful. The last 2 books I have read in the series don't enter the courtroom and it is strickly a procedural with Barbara constantly complaining about how much sleep she is not getting. The case is complex but there isn't a lot happening until the last chapter.
