Tough Guy Troubles ❤️

I’m so happy that I don’t read other peoples reviews before reading / listening to a book. Most comments were to the negative.
However, I loved hearing of Ryan’s difficulties and the way that Fabian was able to be the supporting partner Ryan so needed.
Even though their lives were vastly different, they made a great couple that were able to commingle their lives together and find the happiness they both needed.
Loved Rachel Reid’s inclusiveness of other characters from her previous books to complete these stories.
Looking forward to the next instalment. ❤️

Hockey and sweet romance

Ryan is such an easy character to root for. He and Fabian together are just too sweet. For fans of Ilya and Shane, they make an appearance. But I enjoyed Ryan’s story almost as much as theirs!

I love Ryan! We all have some of his idiosyncrasies! This book has quit a bit more humor and I really enjoyed that!

Fun story, average narration

The narrator has a great voice, but he does this thing at the end of Fabian’s sentence where every comment comes off as a question (or as though Fabian is winded from running up a set of stairs).

If the narrator could change this one issue with inflection, it’d be perfect.

Adorable

Ryan Price is just one of the most endearing and adorable characters I’ve ever read about. Loved his story so much and wish we could have another book about him. Loved it ❤️

Hot; not sizzling!

This is my second book by Ms Reid. She creates vivid characters and the erotic passages do the job! The eroticism is less hot than the passages in the Heated Rivalry. Maybe because the characters are not as physically desirable (at least for me!) as in the Rivalry! Mr. Thom,s narration and voice are excellent. His accent in French words needs a lot of work. I suggest he consult a real educated Parisian to correct his accent, even though he needs it for no more than a couple of words per book! Some French words, when he has to use them, are even incomprehensible. But with his voice, it is worth going back a couple of times to understand what the word is!

I’m in heaven

I want wrap Ryan up in the biggest hug in the world and Fabian is just perfection.

The narration is fantastic... this book is a giant warm hug and the one of the best ways imaginable to spend a day.

Rachel Reid has managed to write 3 totally different hockey books. An insta love, slow burn enemies to lovers, and now a semi-second chance story with 2 heroes that seemingly make no sense together but actually are quite perfect.

You instantly fall in love with Ryan Price. I don’t think I have ever fallen for a character faster. I would have never thought that I could fall in love with a character through a failed masturbation scene but my gawd it is brilliant! You just see his whole life in that scene. He is so yearning for more but he is locked in by his high anxiety levels.

Fabian is just so sweet. I would never have thought I would love a story between a gentle ginger giant and a cute blue haired musician but this book works and works WELL.

This book is always going to be compared to Heated Rivalry and that isn’t quite fair. It is totally different, but not disappointing. Heated Rivalry is quite possibly the best MM book I’ve ever read. It is 6 out of 5 stars. I’ll settle for 5 out of 5 for this beauty!

And there might be some Ilya sightings. Maybe. And I might have run around my house squealing like a banshee for 10 minutes causing my neighbor to call the cops on me. Jk. The epilogue is epic.

Good story. Good narration.

This is a sappy and sweet hockey romance with an opposites attract theme.

I liked the cast of characters. The plot was decent, but a bit to predictable for my taste. I did appreciate the unsubtle 'hockey is for everyone' moments in the story. Yes, girls and gay men can play hockey too. Such a shoving idea...😏

Enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next one.

Vulnerable Masculine Main Character

The idea that the biggest guy in the room, having a job to fight on the ice, can be so vulnerable and face some deep challenges is what makes this book so good. The dynamic between Ryan and Fabian is also adorable and I loved seeing Ryan get more and more comfortable. The endings in this series unfortunately haven’t been that strong and same for this one it just sort of abruptly ends. Also love this voice actor

NOT REID'S BEST...

I am a HUGE fan of Rachel Reid's books, however, I was a little disappointed with "Tough Guy". I never got fully invested in the two main characters... they seemed so different, however, it is said that opposites attract so perhaps I am being too harsh. I do like how Reid ties together characters from her other books... it's a nice touch. Clearly she is a fan of hocky and knows the sport well.
