Heiser provide so much insight

I'm a pastor, author, and an avid reader but it's rare that I would consider reading a book twice after having processed it. This is a book that I will absolutely listen to again. I would recommend that you get either a printed or kindlel copy of this book as well because there's a lot of things ayou re going to want to take note of if you are listening.(keep your highlight already)

Don’t Read Only Once

This book has opened up Holy Scripture for me like shining a bright light in a dark room. I thought I knew how to feel my way along in the dark. I was wrong. I’ve read my Bible probably fifty times as it is my joy. Now I’m reading again ‘for the first time’ after reading this book several times. I wish I could have thanked Dr. Heiser before he died for this blessing.

Absolutely life changing!

I have never read the entire Bible from cover to cover. I've always done studies of the stories, principles, etc. Now I can't wait to read it straight through and use this view as the lens. Dr Heiser's writing and delivery to the everyday person is just what every Christian needs. He also reaches the "critical thinkers" and people whom have simply stopped going to church or talking to God due to lack of information and or tired of cookie cutter sermons on information and perspective that are largely regurgitated again and again. EVERY PASTOR needs to read this book :)

need to re listen 3 times i guess

it was informational ocerload that i feel i need to revisit. at times chapters seemed disconnected more than i could follow. still amazing book, just more challenging to listen to. it almost requires full attention, dont count on this to be you daily commute listen.

Buckle Up...

This is a roller coaster of-a-book!
So many things to talk about - and many things to learn.
Because of this work, my eyes are opened to things I’ve never considered
I will say this title may not be suitable for all believers, rather (IMHO) it may be best to have a strong foundation of Christian faith
The reason I say that is there are a few topics where a noobie-believer may become flighty confused...
Our goal in life is simple: there is one true God and the only way to him is through Jesus...as long as the reader keeps that in mind, I think there is nothing short of an adventure I learning waiting for you within these pages/words.

I absolutely adore this and will purchase the authors other titles as well

Very Interesting

Definitely was not a struggle to finish! Dr. Heiser illustrates, and walks you through a worldview that is virtually foreign to 21st century scholarship. Like I said...very interesting lens to look through. Looking forward to another book from Dr. Heiser!!

Will Forever Change Your Soteriology

This is the only Audible book I've ever listened to 4 times and I probably will continue to listen to it. Understanding the interpretive context of the first hearers - especially the weird stuff - in the Bible not only restores the supernatural worldview of the Biblical writers - but completely broadens and expands what the Gospel is. I say this a someone who has devoted my life to Bible study, evangelism, theology, philosophy, church history for the last 15 years or so - this overhauled narrow readings of the OT and NT and opened the door to a world unknown.

Of all modern Christian writings I owe more to Heiser than almost anyone else - and I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket. Heiser just synthesizes material often kept hidden or filtered through church tradition (basically Augustine and the Reformers) or critics of any sort of orthodoxy (the gnostic Gospel craze) - and gives the most coherent presentation of the OT mind that flows directly into New Testament theology.

You will never get this stuff out of your head and you will never read the Bible the same way after you read this - and for the better. It is so overwhelming obvious that Jesus and the apostles kept the worldview of the OT going after going through this book - that so much of the NT takes on fresh meaning. This may be one of few books that made me want to re-read the NT over and over.

Biblical scholarship at its best!

Nearly every chapter contains an aha moment as Doctor Heiser unravels passages that have confounded students of the Bible for years, going into detail and explaining things, breaking them down for the average person. Outstanding.👌

Excellent information

I really appreciated the research and insights found in this book! I found it encouraging and inspiring. This book opens up the Bible allowing the reader to understand what the authors were really trying to communicated regarding Angels, demons, the nature and purpose of God, His counsel and ourselves.

Love this book, the Bible, the one true God

This book has changed my life. It's shocking at first, then when you start re-reading the Bible, everything makes sense and things are crystal clear. It's like we only had half the information. I can't get enough of it. I have listened to this book dozens of times so far, picking up more and more information and clarity each time. I read and listen to the Bible and each chapter and verse is like a brand new story.

How many times have you read in the bible that God wants you to turn away from other gods? Why have we just ignored it or glossed over it? Read this book and you'll understand.

I can't recommend this book enough. I give it 100 stars. Thank you Dr Heiser and all the Biblical scholars you cited.
