My New Favorite Wingate Book
Nobody writes a dual-timeline novel like Lisa Wingate. This story was told with tenderness and a call for humanity to pay attention to the children of history, that we may not overlook the vulnerable in our midst. The narration was flawless. This story is a treasure. Highly recommend.

Riveting
Lisa Wingate does not fail. She brings her characters to life that makes you feel like you are living the story with them. This book kept my attention and really wondering how she was going to type the two time periods together, nice job. I have read quite a few of Lisa’s books and just when you think she can’t do better she blows a new release out of the water. Lisa is a true story teller, she does not write to a formula but tells the story without predictable next scenes.

Magical, Incredible Story
I loved the characters and the way they are developed over time. I also loved how this time in history comes to life in such a relatable way. My family is from Oklahoma but I had no idea of this time in history. Thank you for this wonderful book!

Lisa never disappoints
The story is mesmerizing. The details of history well researched. Once again I learn about a terrible tragedy in history of which I would not have known without this story. Our school history books are horrendously lacking in telling the tragic stories of this country. Thank you Lisa Wingate.

Interesting topic and great narration!
I think this is an interesting topic and has potential to be a powerful story…but I found it to be a little slow and unable to hold my interest like other books by the author.
