In a class of its own.

I am in awe of what Adrian Tchaikovsky has achieved with this book, both as a writer and a narrator. It manages to be hilariously funny and highly entertaining while also conveying a deep and layered view of humanity's demise. I love the relationship between UnCharles and The Wonk, and the richness of their characters. For this is as much a story about The Wonk as it is about UnCharles, elevating the book above lighter fare like the Murderbot series (also excellent, but very different). And, like others, I was expecting substandard narration since that is often the case with books read by the author. Instead, the narration is superb.
Thank you, Mr. Tchaikovsky for this treasure. It deserves to stand beside the classics of the genre. Brilliant!

Another banger from Tchaikovsky

Adrian Tchaikovsky is one of the best sci-fi writers in the business today. Every one of his books is utterly unique, promising you won't ever get the same experience twice. Service Model might be written off as a light hearted sci-fi romp, and it is, but where it differs from other recent light hearted tales *cough* Starter Villain *cough* is that it actually has quite a lot to say. I found myself laughing just as much as I found myself saying, "huh..." in a hand-to-chin contemplative manner. Is the book preaching about the evils of modern society? Maybe...? Is it poking fun at the current political and socioeconomic issues that currently divide society? Also maybe. At its core, is it a funny and ridiculous snd sometines sad tale about a robot trying to find his place in the wasteland of a fallen civilization? Definitely.
The science fiction may not be as engrossing as his Children series, and the humor may not reach quite the riotous level of laughter (for me anyway) of his Tyrant Philosopher series, but this is a worthy notch in the belt of a great story teller.

The really terrific narrator greatly enhanced an already beautiful story. Adrian Tchaikovsky at his best.

This was a wonderfully delightful story and a great took to look at ourselves through the eyes of the machines. The use of “rhetorical” had me in stitches. I could not have enjoyed it more. I thank you for your work Mr. Tchailovsky.

Did I just listen to some version of Dante’s Inferno for robots?

There was no Beatrice, but it felt like a version of Inferno or Milton’s paradise

Beautiful, thought provoking and hilarious

Worth every moment, I loved this book. This is a hard boiled science fiction comedy that has several things to say. I find myself thinking about the Hitchhiker's Guide in comparison to style and tone. If you have read the trilogy by Neil Shusterman, Sythe, then you may find yourself like me comparing those to this as well on topic and intensity of sociological perspective building. I couldn't recommend this book more!

Beautiful writing

It’s typically not a great idea for authors to narrate their own work but my goodness was I blown away. Adrian did an amazing job and the voices were just superb.

The story itself was an absolute delight. Funny and thought provoking and a highlight of the real dangers of AI-not the algorithms themselves but the people who write them

An Incredible Journey

The narration was incredible and the story itself is unforgettable. I loved how each section of the story paid homage to different notable writers and how the main character stayed consistant throughout -- I think a lesser writer could have failed but this was exceptional. I will likely read this again, as this feels like a modern classic for those who enjoy modern classics... and also who wished Spielberg's A.I. had been a much better film with a far more interesting story structure.

Intricate plot deftly written

Tchaikovsky does it again- unique characters absolutely brought to life - exploring what it means to be human…or robot. I doubt I”ll EVER forget the main characters. Listen carefully because there’s a LOT going on!
