First thee pretty good, 4th was a slog

the first three books were pretty good, the last one had some pacing issues and felt like they were trying to fit a 5th book inside of it.

The main character is the only actual player in the game, everyone else is an NPC waiting for the MC to move the story forward or save them. Until the 4th book he has only met maybe 5 players, but in the 4th book they are all helping to fight the big bad, only they are no better than the NPCs and need the main character to move the story forward and save them.

The main character also overshadows his Team, they exist for a love interest and so that he is not talking to himself the entire time.

just great

I loved it. Being new to the lit rpg genre, it filled me with everything that I love about gaming and the future hopes for it. I found the MC a bit asshole-ish at times, bit realized that if I were in the same spot and scenario,I too would be the same. It is after all... a game. I loved it and hope there will be more added to this series. I would love to see the continuation of Dexter Jonathan Walsh and his Cadre of peeps continue to smash face. Thank you for the amazing listen. It makes my mail route just a bit tolerable.

I enjoyed the overall story the MC progresses in spurts and he does not become some overpowered MC that just rolls through everything

There was some good romance with out going over the top.

The only complaint I have at the moment is the fact that the story is left hanging i am looking forward to the author continuing this series

The narrator should never do more audio

The book was fine as far as these books go, BUT this narrator was so bad I looked for a refund after the first chapter. Since I paid actual money I could not refund this dumpster fire... He talks with no emotion and reads like an alien trying to use English. its horrible. I forced through this, you shouldn't have too. if you have to; use credits so you can get it back if you feel the same

Almost great.

The story was really good. the narration was at the upper end of mediocre. The characters...were mostly one sided cliche bags.
I can't say whether it was a fault of the writing or the narration, but the conversation always felt stunted or forced. The banter was especially flat.
The MC frequently forgot his cool stuff until failing several times to do whatever task he was attempting. the members of his party were mostly bland, except when being stereotypes.
All in all, the set was worthwhile, but i wouldnt buy these individually.

i want to hear more of the story

i love the series and i want there to be more books written. the books are great to listen to and want more of them

highly recommended

so I bought the 4 books in one and the last 2 weeks has been amazing. I am very sad I finished it with the 5th book not yet available. I have been on a big LitRPG kick and this series tickled the inch very well. The narrator is also one of my favorite which added to it.

great ideas but the mc ruins it

the mc is a creep, annoying, and selfish, but tries to act cool. he's supposed to be a game designer but has no mindset of an actual gamer. there where some moment where I actually cringed at the things that he said.

I was Such a good read that I have not done anything else but listen to this book I could not put it down

Good story but whiny character

The story is a good one, but i don't like that the main character is extremely whiny and a bit stupid.
