Years have passed since the end of the War of the Lance. The people of Ansalon have rebuilt their lives, their houses, their families. The Companions of the Lance, too, have returned to their homes, raising children and putting the days of their heroic deeds behind them. But peace on Krynn comes at a price. The forces of darkness are ever vigilant, searching for ways to erode the balance of power and take control. When subtle changes begin to permeate the fragile peace, new lives are drawn into the web of fate woven around all the races.

The answer lies in the new Dragonlance novella by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, which gazes into the future of Caramon and his mage-son, and into the dark nether-past of Raistlin. Tales of sea monsters, dark elves, ice bears, hideous hydra-headed serpents, and loathsome draconian troops.
Further adventures of the kender Tas; the innkeepr Otic and young Tika; the dwarf Flint and Tanis, leader of the companions; Caramon and Raistlin, twin brothers, one, a genial warrior, the other, a sickly magician and scholar.

Resumen del Editor
This book starts with the celebration of a wedding. The companions believe they have slain the evil Dragon Highlord Verminaard. They have rescued the refugees from Pax Tharkas and taken them to a valley in the Kharolis mountains.
After they are attacked by the Dragon Armies, Tanis and Flint are sent to search for the long lost dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin, hoping to persuade the dwarves to give the refugees shelter for winter.
Each of the other companions face their own trials. Raistlin remembers that, according to tales of old, the key to Thorbardin lies in the haunted fortress known as Skullcap. The others want nothing to do with this accursed place, but Raistlin feels strangely drawn to the ruins, and he persuades a reluctant Caramon to accompany him there.
Sturm becomes obsessed with finding the legendary Hammer of Kharas, and his obsession nearly plunges the party into disaster. Riverwind, now chieftain of his tribe, is made the reluctant leader of the refugees and worries that he is not suited for the task. Tika Waylan must decide if she has the courage to undertake a perilous journey to save those she loves from certain death, while Tanis Half-Elven wrestles with his faith in the newly returned gods.
But it is the dwarf, Flint Fireforge, who faces the most crucial test.

Historia
The humans have no magic and are hunted for sport, but that is about to change. War is coming.... The Sun Dragon spawned nine lesser dragons which devoured their parent for the power the elder possessed. These young dragons fought for choice bits of the Sun Dragon, but each only managed to eat a portion, thus giving them specific powers. Over time, these foul dragons were hunted down and slain by heroes of old.

Historia
It’s hard to be a drunken idiot when the world keeps burning down around you. Cairn, the charming-yet-utterly-irresponsible heir to the Uskarrion throne, is all too happy to toss the crown aside. But an invasion, conspiracy, and rise of a terrifying villain result in his untimely death. Then, Cairn reawakens. It's a decade earlier, and he's in his childhood body. But he remembers everything...there's much to accomplish. First, however, he'd really love to stop himself from dying.

Wonderful
I grew up reading these in grade school. Now as a 38 year old I am thoroughly enchanted with these stories again. A point is only knocked off because of Tas’s voice. All in all though these books are fun. I’m talking to you...30 and 40 year olds. Still great, possibly better, now that I’m older.

Voice was average
This is the 15th book in the series I've listened to. The first 3 books had a great voice actor and since then there have been people mispronouncing and people who just sound bland. This was one of those at the beginning, but it gets better.

Poor Tas
Why on EARTH did she make Taa sound like a cartoon clown from a kids' show? She makes him sound like an idiot. He's far from being an idiot! His voice is described as "shrill" in some Dragonlance books, and this weird strangled voice is totally off-base. See the Chronicles trilogy for a narrator who really "gets" Tas.
Literally everything else she does in the book is great. Why, Sandra, why?

Good lord, where do they get these Narrators?
Great story, god awful performance by Sandra Burr. Heed the warnings of the other reviews, Sandra butchers Tas and other character voices. It makes you cringe every time the character speaks.

Loved the book. Loathed the narrator.
The book was great! Loved being able to fill in the gaps between the first two Chronicles books.
The narrator was awful. Her character voices were deplorable and her pronunciations were very American-ized. Agonizing. Should have used Paul Boehmer again.

Tasslehoff is unbearable and names are hard.
The voice use for Tasslehoff Burrfoot is by far the most annoying and unpleasant voice to listen to I have ever heard by a narrator. I hated it from the first time I heard it and almost deleted the book from my audible library. By the end of the book, I hated it just as much and I can only pray that I don't have to listen to it in future books. The narrator also mispronounces very common names in this series that have very simple phonetics.

Love the Series but the Narrator....
I've downloaded several books of Raistlin, Cameron, Tanis, Flint, Strum, Tass...this list goes on. I've enjoyed everyone and the narrators glance been decent until now. The narrator of this book is terrible it was a struggle to listen to its entirety. Please redo with another narrator for the benefit of the benefit of listeners.

Weis and Hickman have been my favorite for decades. Audio book was written and narrated perfectly! Downloaded the next book in the series and I can't wait to continue!!!

Almost perfect
The book was great like usual. The narrator was better than the guy for the Twin chronicles but that Tasselhoff voice was almost unbearable.
