Emma is used to things going her way. Her father is headmaster of her prestigious boarding school, her friends take her advice as gospel, and she's convinced that a relationship with her long-time crush is on the horizon. Jude never thought she’d be leaving her beloved older brother and father behind, all the way across the ocean in Syria. But when things in her hometown start becoming volatile, Jude and her mother are sent to live in Cincinnati with relatives. At first, everything in America seems too fast and too loud. Story
In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

And there she finds a gripping mystery novel about a small town, family secrets, and a tragic disappearance. Story
There came an elastic aftershock of creaks and groans and then, softly softly, a chinking shower of rubbled cement. Leaves calmed and trunks stood serene. Where, not a minute before, there had been a suburb, there was now only woodland standing amid ruins. There is no warning. No chance to prepare. They arrive in the night: thundering up through the ground, transforming streets and towns into shadowy forest. Buildings are destroyed.

What a wonderful story!
This was such a delightful story to read. I’ve even told my daughter she should read it. Love the thought of jumping into books. The characters were cute and just the whole mystery of what was happening was fun to follow :)

A Fun Adventure
I listened to this book twice in a row, bought the hard cover addition and recommended it to all my book lover friends. There was just a magic about it that I loved.
The narrator is fantastic.

a wonderfully fun story
What a captivating story! The thought of book jumping would really be a dream come true. I love the bits and pieces the author pulled from literature to tell her own. I think it was well done and very enjoyable to listen to!
