Publisher's summary
Art college graduate Audrey Brooks thinks she has her life figured out.
Degree, check. Job, check. Boyfriend, check. Until she meets Falon Cooper, a tall, dark, and handsome New York art connoisseur she feels desperately attracted to. She begins having flashbacks and blackouts related to Falon, and she can't shake the feeling that she's met him before. She just can't imagine how. A way into the past opens up for Falon and Audrey, and they begin their forays into the unknown in the form of nightly excursions into bygone eras. But there is danger attached to these expeditions as it becomes more and more difficult to return to the present. Strange things occur that cause Audrey to wonder if she can trust Falon. He transforms into a darker, more dangerous man the further they go back in time. As they delve deeper and deeper into the past, they find themselves slipping perilously into uncharted territory, taking them both back to a 1940's murder they're intimately connected with.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Deep beneath the ocean, there is a shimmering palace. Built of coral walls and windows of clearest amber, it is the kingdom of the merpeople. And one of these mermaids you might know well: she is the youngest, and is gifted with the most beautiful voice. Unhappy with her life as a mermaid, she dreams of living on dry land. One day, on her birthday, she ascends to the surface to find a magnificent three-masted ship drifting in calm waters. There, amongst the passengers, she meets the brown-eyed prince.

A time-travel adventure that just might make you a believer. The Time Machine by H. G. Wells was fun, as was the enjoyable A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle and Jack Finney's delightful Time and Again. If you enjoyed these books, you’ll definitely want to read Mission in Time. However, after reading Mission in Time, this might be the first time you actually find yourself believing in time travel. Imagine being sent on a time-travel mission expecting to arrive in a certain period of time and finding yourself in a very different era—a major period in the history of the United States....

Then, in 1984, Owen Beattie and his team exhumed two crew members from a burial site in the North for forensic evidence, to shocking results. But the most startling discovery didn't come until 2014, when a team commissioned by the Canadian government uncovered one of the lost ships: Erebus.

Disappointed
Disjointed. Hard to follow and care about characters. The virtual voice narration ruined any hope for the story to be interesting.
