Publisher's summary
All Mark wanted was to find someone to help with his daughter’s paralysis. What he found was a mysterious military organization protecting a one-time medical facility, a nuclear power plant on the verge of a meltdown, an Asian spy and a fortified town run by women for women.
Turned away by the facility and the town, Mark is determined to find help and answers to his growing amount of questions. But sometimes answers can be worse than not knowing. Forcing a meeting with the facilities leader, Dr. Ohtanda, Mark soon discovers the deadly virus that wiped out most of the population may be morphing into a more powerful strain.
Dr. Ohtanda is working on a vaccine, but was the release an accident or a deliberate terrorist act—and who is responsible? Was it the Chinese? Our own government? A terrorist group? Or a secret organization with the goal of being the lone survivors? With time running out, Mark must find a way to not only save his daughter, but all of mankind. But, if a cure can’t be found, will anyone be left to save humanity?
Then There’ll Be None is a pulse-pounding, fast-paced action thriller that will leave you wondering about the lengths people will go to ensure their survival. How Will You Survive?

I'm a firm believer in justice. But as the world around me falls into chaos, justice becomes harder to come by. That's when I make a decision. I'm taking matters into my own hands. It starts small. A thug who doesn't understand the word no. I take him down swiftly and silently. It feels good to see fear in his eyes as he realizes he's no longer the one in control.

Certainly not the twins at the heart of the matter of all things Apocalypse, Calvin and Trent, who soon must decide what—or rather whom—they’re willing to sacrifice in order to delay your world’s dying gasps. Definitely not the high school principal, Gary Mustafa, whose hyperfixation on balloons will leave your mind only loosely tethered to your head. Then there’s Love and Yew, the former government hacker and ex-reality TV star, the latter a psychedelic therapist who thinks she’s better than you. The less said about these two women, the better.

Story
Before the world succumbed to the silent grip of the undead, there was a time when the greatest threats were not the walking dead but the specters of war and the shadow of nuclear annihilation. This prequel to the "Zombie Chronicles" unfolds in the heart of the Cold War era, a period when the line between friend and foe blurred under the weight of mutual distrust and fear. It was a time when the American landscape was dotted not with the remnants of a post-apocalyptic nightmare but with the concrete manifestations of fear itself—underground bunkers and bomb shelters, meant to be ...

It starts with the dogs. They won’t stop barking. And then the earth shrugs - 8.9 on the Richter scale. It’s the world’s biggest earthquake since Lisbon in 1755, and it doesn’t hit California or Japan or Mexico, but New Madrid, Missouri, a sleepy town on the Mississippi River. Seismologists had predicted the scope of the disaster - but no one listened. For hundreds of miles around, dams burst, engulfing entire counties in tidal waves of mud and debris. Within minutes, there is nothing but chaos and ruin from St. Louis to Vicksburg, from Kansas City to Louisville.

Immersive Apocalyptic Horror
In an apocalyptic world, Mark seeks out help for his newly paralyzed daughter. To find a skilled doctor, Mark must find entry into a medical facility that is heavily protected. His efforts are met with resistance by others fighting to stay alive. Mark is faced with several tough choices, choices that could end in death for some including mankind!
Ray Wenck, the author, weaves an engaging storyline that challenges the listener to look deep and ask themselves the hard questions. Although this is book 5 in the series, it can be a stand-alone novel as there is enough background given to satisfy a first-time listener of the series. The character development was thorough and insightful blending into the theme of the book fluidly. The dialogue further moved the storyline forward as did the interactions between characters.
The narrator, Jack de Golia, captures and projects the emotions vividly as well as the nature of each character. Jack de Golia speaks clearly and with an engaging presence transporting the listener deeper into the narrative. Utilizing his voice, de Golia delineates each character clearly, enabling the listener to effortlessly follow the narrative.
The author and narrator provide the listener with the opportunity to become immersed in the narrative and experience the intense action. Highly recommend this audiobook.
