Story
Ava's life is the kind other people envy: loving husband, great kids, beautiful house. Until the night that a violent home invasion plunges her world into chaos. In the aftermath of the attack, Ava needs answers to two questions. Who has targeted her family? And why? But things aren't adding up. She is starting to suspect that she doesn't know the people closest to her. That someone knows more than they are letting on. That everything she thought she knew about them was a lie. Of course, I’m not going to murder her in the night. I need my laptop back first. That’s the whole point of making friends with Emily Harper, author of the hugely successful novel Diary of an Octopus. So I could get into her apartment and take back what’s mine. Emily doesn’t know who I really am. She thinks I’m her biggest fan, her new best friend who happens to need a place to stay for a few days. She doesn’t realize the laptop she found—and took—from a busy airport almost two years ago was mine. I don’t care about the laptop, just what's on it: my diary.

She’ll never forget...I’ll never forgive. People always notice my daughter, Isobel. How could they not? Incredibly beautiful...until she speaks. An unsettling little-girl voice, exactly like a child’s, but from the mouth of a full-grown woman. Izzie might look grown up, but inside she’s trapped. Caught in the day it happened...the day that broke her from within. Our family fell apart that day, and we never could pick up the pieces....

Story
Greed, terrorism, and simple bad luck conspire to bring mankind to its knees as a viral infection spreads out of control, reducing those infected to undead horrors that feed upon the rest. It's a time of misery and death for most, however there are some who are lucky, some who are ruthless, and some who are just too damned tough to go down without a fight. This is their story.

It all begins with a simple invitation. For five authors, it’s meant to be the start of a restful week, filled with free food, drinks, and like-minded company. But shortly after their arrival, things take an unsettling turn. Broken property, missing items, and strange noises are just some of the odd occurrences that have each member questioning their companions. As suspicions mount, the authors are pitted against each other.

I was really in for a surprise with the twists in this book. The one who was the protector turned out to be the one needing protection from! I think that the author did a great job weaving this story together.

Just a taste of The Most Dangerous Game
I am so happy I didn't stop this book in the beginning, which I was very close to doing. It seemed just silly and without logic in the beginning and I had a very difficult time with the whiny, fearful heroine. As the story continued on it got more interesting and by the end of it, I was hooked. Hang in there if you have a hard time in the beginning! It gets better!!

The narrator ruined it.
First off I'd like to address the narrator. I listen to my books while driving, cooking, cleaning and while working. The fluctuations of her voice of the main character was terrible. One second she is yelling and then fades to a whisper. This made it a very hard listen because if I turned it up the yelling was too loud but it was the only way to hear the constant voice drops to almost a whisper. It almost quit listening because it truly ruined the listen. I absolutely hated the whiny voice she used for Laura. The male voice was steady and well done. as was Mia's voice.
The story was good, it piqued my interest and curiosity. I came to despise Laura, however, she was such a weak, scared female lead. None of the characters were particularly likeable, but she was the hardest to relate to. I'm glad I didn't quit, I would have missed the best part of the book.
All in all, it's an ok story with an interesting premise, a little draggy in the beginning but eventually gets going shortly before the end. I gave it 3 stars for that reason.

Great thriller
I really enjoyed this book. The narration was fantastic and the storyline kept me guessing the whole time. There were some great twists but they felt cheap to me. All the twists seem to manifest from the lies from the first half of the book. No way to guess the ending because of the fakeness of the first half. But I still loved it.

Phenomenal
I had fairly low expectations going into this one just because the title was a bit simple.
However, I was proven wrong within the first couple of chapters of this book.
It isn’t simple at all, in fact, this book has many layers and facets. All well thought out and all completely fleshed out as the story progresses.
The writing is exceptionally good.
Every scene, every interaction has descriptive elements that truly make you feel like you’re right there, for every step.
The characters are very well developed and the story makes sense.
It is creepy, clever, original, and razor sharp.
I could not believe the ending (and I mean this in the best possible sense) it blew me away.
What a totally pleasant surprise this book was.
I love when that happens! It is so rare!
Also, a truly phenomenal performance by the beloved Stephanie Racine.
She has truly evolved as a performer and I enjoy her more with every listen….
Bravo all the way around!!!

Very good
Kept me guessing, throughout the story, love the twists and suspense that the author was able to maintain throughout the book.
