The head of Scotland’s most powerful crime family is brutally murdered, his body dumped inside an ancient grave in a remote cemetery. Detectives Max Craigie and Janie Calder arrive at the scene, a small town where everyone has secrets to hide. They soon realise this murder is part of a blood feud between two Scottish families that stretches back to the 1800s. Story
Reports to write, forms to fill, coffee to drink, leads to run down. Gus’s life was a tedium and boredom he’d grown comfortable with. One that he sought out after he’d come back from his tour of duty. A detective in the paranormal investigations department. A job he could work day in and day out in relative peace. One cold and forgotten cup of coffee at a time. It was an environment that made some sense to him. At least in comparison to civilian life where almost nothing did. On top of that, it gave him a chance to hide what he was from the rest of the world.

Publisher's summary
It’s November in Chicago. Still healing from an encounter with the Corn Flakes Killer, Lieutenant Michelle “Mickey” Rooney and her partner, Sam Tanner, head out into the snowy night to investigate four seemingly unrelated drug killings. They appear to be run-of-the-mill drug deals gone bad...until witnesses at one of the crime scenes report that they saw the shooting. And they have overheard the name of the killer: Esteban Fernandez.
Mickey and the Chicago PD notify the Federal authorities, thanks to a new Federal APB on Fernandez. Fernandez has been declared a threat to national security, and all movements are to be reported.
Justice Security has been given a government contract: Find Esteban Fernandez and stop him. Bring him in for trial if possible, but stop him. When word reaches them that Fernandez is in Chicago, Joey Justice, his partners, and their FBI liaison, Marcus Moore, move quickly to the Windy City, and they take over the investigation.
They also take over Mickey Rooney and Sam Tanner, and draft them into the biggest crime case in Chicago’s history...a crime case that Mickey will never be allowed to talk about.
Action, humor, and a two-night-romance for Mickey and Marcus...find out what happens when Justice Security takes on insane Mexican drug cartel leader, Esteban Fernandez, in the Windy City! Hear T. M. Bilderback’s novel, inspired by the classic song performed by Paper Lace, The Night Chicago Died!

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

A really great action suspense novel!
This book was an introduction for me of Justice Security by T.M. Bilderback. I really enjoyed the book and the characters and the storyline. I don't want to give away any of the book so I will just suggest that you buy a copy and try it for yourself. It has lots of suspense, action and romance with a few swear words.
I received a free code for this book from Audiobooks Unleashed to listen to on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion.
