Offered a short-term contract, he lands on the Hebridean island of Harris to investigate obscure animal bones. Quickly dismissing the unicorn skull as a thinly disguised fake, he can’t deny there’s something unusual about these bones. Baited by rumors of a majestic tusked horse roaming the uplands, Gill begins to suspect someone is manipulating him. But that’s the mission for Owen Quarry, Anaya Pretorius, and the rest of COG, a company of elite, disgraced, soldiers from around the globe. They join a defrocked company commander, an AI warship with self-confidence issues, and a crew of misfit troopers on a dizzying time-quest: prove the concept of stationing armies in space-time. Disappointing
The story line was very disjointed and hard to follow which I quit trying to do at chapter 17. The narrator was not easy to listen to either; making this book overall disappointing.

narration didnt help the story
I was wondering where this story was going, and was happy when it finally ended. The narration was poor. The narrator had a nice voice, but he often sounded bored. His cadence often didn't match what he was reading, as if he didn't know the emotional content of the story, and therefore didn't properly convey the content through the storytelling. Definitely not going to listen to any more of this series.

Disappointing
This book was so discombobulated and didn't flow and I still don't know the reason why some of what happened to the some people happened there just was no real explanation for the cruelty no clousure

Fascinating story.
I really enjoyed the series of books. The narrator was excellent and the storyline and characters were very well developed. Unfortunately, I found out to late that I would never really know the conclusion of the story because of the untimely death of the author.
I wish audible.com would have alerted me that this is an incomplete series. While I understand the parents of the deceased will attempt to complete book 7 and 8 audible.com readers should have been given the option if they wish to commit time and money to this particular series.
