This story is so simple and so good. It has many elements of mass hysteria, religion fanatics, government conspiracies, and inexplicable monsters. I loved how the book has this ability to frustrate and stress out the reader. The impotence is palpable.

I enjoy greatly the narration! And I couldn't not recognize his voice. He is just like a must for King narrations as he is able to inflict mystery through his voice. His voice, his whispering, and his skill to change his tone is incredible and adds so much to the narration and the experience.

I love that feeling of hopelessness. It is the same type of resolution you get from Salem's Lot... we see the characters making it out! But with what purpose? Did they really make it? Wasn't all the efforts... futile?

If I could give this narrator more stars, I would. He was enthusiastic and really put his heart into the reading.

I don't like everything written by Stephen King, but this story "The Myst" engaged my attention completely from begining to end; I listen to it in one sitting

Huge Questions!

I think it was okay, but I was awful for thinking that the movie was horrible because it was 80-90% on point to the book. Minus the sex scene and changing the ending to him killing everyone in the car. That didn't happen. It actually ended on a point that made you be the person to decide what had happened. If he killed them, they continued, or they stuck around in the hotel they had stayed at. They also led you to believe that the Mist might have been caused by the Arrowhead Project which he gave no other information on besides the name and the fact it was the government working on it. Again leaving it to your imagination or making it so you are looking for clues in some of his other books which I can't decide if that's cruel or bloody brilliant. I do say though, it was a rather short book and I would have preferred a wider mentally visual stance on what was happening through other characters and not just the main character and his little boy. There was no character development and no way for us to be more involved with other characters. I felt for him as a father and husband but I cant tell if that's because of his writing or because I am a wife and mother. So it felt lacking and could've been more fleshed out.
He also mentioned "there's no telling what they had been getting into up there." Which could either lead the reader to believe either it was up north of their location or in the sky somewhere. Again, they never talked about any of it. Nothing they had seen or thought about was odd with the army being in the area or what they had seen. Which was frustrating. However, I did enjoy it regardless to any of these rougher facts and I do crave more.

It is an amazing story that I will listen to again

A story of what a human is truly capable of in an extraordinary situation. It has a touch of eldritch horror that tops it off quite nicely. Bravo!!

Mr. Patton did a nice job with this, love the story. I was mainly interested in how the ending differed from the film.

I really liked the movie but hated the ending and this was so much better as books usually are. great read had a long day and worked and before I knew day was over and so was the book.

Keeps you wondering….

I like Stephen King’s work. I recognized the voice of the narrator. Well read. I kept wondering…. How will this end….. not a typical ending that I expected.
