Resumen del Editor

A three thousand year old Egyptian secret. The mystery of a long forgotten pharaoh. A weapon capable of destroying the world.

When Dr. Gideon Cohen is given the task of deciphering a Rosetta Stone-like artifact dubbed the Aten block, he learns of a truth far stranger than fiction. A possibility that can very well bring about the end of the Abramic faith, Gideon has no choice but to venture into the land of the pharaohs, only to unearth the true origin of God.

Meanwhile, when an Egyptologist is murdered and an ancient site attacked, Saudi Arabia’s leading scientific facility, the EAST Research group, sends Dr. Zaid Sadek to investigate the strange virus killing the people of the surrounding regions. Sadek believes the attack to be connected to terrorists, but an enigmatic figure named Malachi Yadin blames an archaic society hell-bent on destroying the world. Soon enough, Gideon and Sadek come face to face when realizing they will need each other if they are to survive the horrible truth of what they are facing. The two must stop at nothing to put an end to a maniacal plot, as well as unravel a conspiracy capable of shattering the faiths of billions.

From the desert landscapes of Egypt to the cold dark streets of Germany, Ethiopia to Saudi Arabia, London to Israel, the race is on to save humanity.

An Okay Archeological Thriller

The book begins with the discover of the Aten Block (a stone linked to the pharaoh commonly known as Akhenaten) and it didn’t take long to get to the first research mistake … for the future … carbon dating is not used to date stone (you need organics to use this technique). While this probably is not a problem with most readers/listeners, it bothered me. Only … it was only one of many ridiculous such attributions and errors that render the story as pulp fiction. Still enjoyable if you don’t take any of it seriously or let the stereotypes and occasional pontificating bother you … the narration was just good enough to make that easier.

The basic plot centers on the Ark of the Covenant (clearly borrowing upon the Raiders of the Lost Ark story) with a twist on the story of Moses that is pretty fanciful and difficult to accept at face value (ref above critique and let it go). This part of the story is driven by an Egyptologist/Archeologist who is responsible for deciphering the Aten Block (and apparently needs to head to Cairo because of this). There is a secret [terrorist] society (ala The Da Vinci Code) dedicated to bringing about the Apocalypse of the World via a mysterious virus that doesn’t actually behave like a virus (yes, another case of poor research … moving on) that takes up the first part of the stories until the Nazi’s can arrive. If this is starting to feel a bit formulaic to you, you are not alone. All of this screams of a missed opportunity and untapped potential while stilling being somewhat entertaining.

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Decent Thriller with Great Delivery

It’s a decent thriller once you get into it, which took me a while. I like the characters and the settings. Though there are a few minor quibbles with the plot mentioned by other reviewers, it’s still a fun story that brings in elements of conspiracy and archeology.

I truly enjoyed the narration.

Indiana Jones meets The Da Vinci Code

This story was like watching a movie. It's full of intrigued and action. The protagonist is a down on his luck archeologist who gets a break that leads him on a quest to discover a long lost secret having to do with a mysterious Pharoah, the origins of the Moses, an ancient weapon, and a secret organization trying to bring about the end of the world. The story kept me hooked from the very start, and fact that some of the things it revealed can in fact be true was even more spellbinding. I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys conspiracy theories or just a good old fashion adventure.

"Dr Jones, I presume?"

Thoroughly enjoyed the ride; this book is full of everything that a good thriller needs, and highly recommended for Indiana Jones/DaVinci Code/Crypto-Thriller fans - you shant be disappointed. The only detraction from five stars for me is the medium within which the audiobook was recorded, which seems to produce a room echo. The narrator, however, is fantastic, and this shouldn't stop anyone from listening: a great time will still be had (essentially just a note for future editions).
