What did you like best about this story?

Sophia is the first female Vampire Lord. She has to claim her rightful spot in a world dominated by male vampires. She also has to claim her human who has reappeared in her very long life.

What does Traci Odom bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has the range that makes differentiation between the characters awesome. She can keep the voices consistent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really an extreme reaction. Just satisfaction. Sophia had to work pretty hard to get her man to forgive her. Lucky he loved her so much.

Female Vampire Queen

This was a well written story about a female Vampire who returns to her makers city in answer to his call. When she arrives, he is missing and she finds other Vampires that have been killed. A detective story issues where she needs to find out who is behind the whole drama. This is an ongoing story about a group of Vampires who are more powerful than others. The real power is Raphael who is the most powerful Vampire in the world. A love story is created between Sophia and an old flame. Good Story. I enjoyed listening. I received this Audio Boom from Audio Book Boom in exchange for an unbiased review.

Brining the South American Vampire Heat!

My advice....DOWNLOAD NOW! There is action, suspense, romance, and vampires...what else could one want from a great series! I liked this addition to the series and how they added new characters but you still get more of our Cyn and Raphael. This is a series and although you can get caught up quickly and don't feel like you would be missing too much I would still recommend reading/listening to the the other books first. I am interested to see what happens to Duncan since I love his character. The narrator does a great job with distinctive voices and pacing.

Phenomenal! I can't get enough of this series. I did receive this audiobook free for an honest review. That being said, this is worth the credit and this author and narrator have my future credits!!!

First of all, I need to let you know that I was provided with a copy of this audiobook at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

Having said that, I should also tell you that I’ve purchased the prior three books in the "Vampires in America" series over the past year because they are just that good. I will try to be unbiased, but I only thought it fair to tell you that I went into this book thinking I would most likely enjoy it.

I hate spoilers in reviews, and I think the summary on the book page is sufficient, so I’m going to limit myself to what you really need to know. This book is not for you if you like your vampires weak and fluffy, or misogynistic and brutish. D.B. Reynolds’ vampires are all-Alpha: powerful, intelligent, beautiful, strong, possessive, and protective. However, unlike many supernatural heroes and heroines in other books I've listened to lately, these vamps are not egotistical. They're hell on their enemies but aren’t domineering with friends and lovers. They’re persuasive and seductive. They’re wily and cunning, but they don’t have to win every, single disagreement. They are also refreshingly unselfish in bed. It’s clear that when they say they love their lovers, they really mean it. And they are very, very good at it.

If you choose to try 'Sophia', I think you’ll find D.B.’s writing to be both intellectually and emotionally engaging. She sets a good pace, progressively developing both characters and plot. She also does a wonderful job of world-creating. The details she gives are pertinent, but not excessive. Some authors tend to be too light when giving details, while others’ scenes are so heavy that I sometimes feel like I’m slogging through, rather than joining the characters on a romantic adventure.

As far as narrators go, I tend to prefer romance read by men. I know this is not very enlightened of me, but it is true. There are a handful of female narrators who I will buy without hesitation, however, and Traci Odom is one. I like her performance here because her voice flows with D.B’s writing. She reads smoothly and steadily. But even more importantly, when she reads—even when she reads the guys’ lines and POV—I don’t hear a narrator. I only hear the characters. Forgetting she’s even there by the fourth or fifth paragraph, I slip right into the story.

I hope you try this book, and if you do, I truly hope you enjoy it. It’s not necessary for you to read or listen to the first 3 novels in this series ('Raphael', 'Jabril', and 'Rajmund'), but if you love this book, please go back and grab those as well. Many of the characters are re-occurring, and I think you will get even more out of this one when you listen to it again, once you’ve heard the back story.

Great story, narration so-so.

I very much enjoyed this fourth installment of the Vampires in America series.
I was not particularly impressed with the narrator. She gave several of the male characters fairly high-pitched voices, which did not fit the characters at all. Otherwise, she did a very reasonable job with the narration.

Once again, Lord Raphael, and his vampires were searching for murders and rapist; vampire haters. They arrived at his Seattle nest and were informed that two of his children had been killed and another’s mate was brutally raped and beaten. They were joined by a representative of the Canadian Lord and local law enforcement, to track down the assailants.

The plot was much like the previous books and the Canadian representative and her man, share the focus, of the story, with another chapter in Lord Raphael’s and Sin’s combative relationship. There was mystery and subterfuge around every corner; I enjoyed it thoroughly!

My only complaint was the chosen voice, for Sophia, by the narrator, Traci Odom. It made me cringe and didn’t suit the character that the author invented. I can’t help but wonder how truly this series could have been had they chosen a true duet narration performance, for this series.
