It starts with a jailbreak. Frank Thorson and his gang ride into Wolfwater to bust Frank's brother out of the slammer. First, they slaughter the deputy. Then, the town marshal. The townsfolk are desperate enough to ask that drunken old coot Catfish Charlie to put down his fishing pole and wine bottles, pick up his Colt Army .44, and go after the bloodthirsty gang. Sure, Catfish Charlie may be a bit rusty after all these years. But when it comes to serving up justice, no one is quicker.

regional differences...mountain solutions
one gets both sides of various cultural issues in Native vs eastern snobs...Preacher understands them both and articulates the defense of the Natives very well. thought provoking book in this series this far.

Super fun read
This is the best Johnstone read I have come across and I have read many many of his works
Preacher really knew how to get after those guys and some of his tactics were absolutely hilarious. I hope to find more jewels like this among his other works

A moral mountain man confronts evil
Preacher thinks clearly and acts ethically in the face of lies and callous wickedness. His justice is harsh and true and his goodness is straightforward and matter of course. Many more people would benefit from his consummate good sense and moral decisions. Fine, fine performance by the reader.

Preacher Series is my favorite western
I always enjoy the preacher series. Only thing that I don’t like about the preacher series is the authors nauseating and and continuous attack of Christians.
