I was hooked from the prologue!

So you say you like romance? With spice? And suspense?

Well, let me HIGHLY RECOMMEND the first book in The Highlands series—a brand new series of standalones by @authorsamanthayoung

I listened to Beyond the Thistles in one go because I couldn’t stop! I had to know what was going to happen; not only in terms of the romance between a grouchy Scotsman and the American single mom on the run, but also for the dramatic mystery/suspense elements!

Here’s what I loved:
💖 The slow burn between the two main characters felt *achingly* slow at times, BUT THAT BUILD UP! 😮‍💨 When our grumpy finally gives into his sunshine he LOSES it! And hindsight had me appreciating every second the author kept us waiting!
💘 Walker is very protective and it comes across as sexy and empowering. He’s not pushy, but he does make the safety of Sloane and her daughter a priority. And the way he melts for them?! *swoon*
💖 Sloane is such a strong FMC. She repeatedly shows her strength, resilience, and determination— she’s hellbent on making a GOOD life for herself and her daughter. As a fellow single mom, she was incredibly relatable.
💘 The suspense elements kept coming and I was 100% hooked. Just when you things will settle down…NOPE! I freaking loved it!

The audiobook was FABULOUS. Both narrators fluidly transitioned from American to Scottish accents—they’re both so talented! And Shane East as a grumpy Scotsman was TOP TIER! I’m hoping to hear more of these narrators as the series progresses. 🫶🏻🙌🏻

Great story

Being visually impaired the narrators must bring the story to life. The narrators did just that. First time reading Samantha Young and will be ordering more of her books. The story was written so well and I was really happy that I ordered this book. Love the narrators!! They can make or break the book even if it's a good story.. You have a new customer on your hands

Shane East never disappoints this story was very good kept you wanting to read the next chapter
A hard to put down kinda book

Such a great book!

I really enjoyed this love story. It had every thing you would want in a grumpy sunshine trope. The performers did an awesome job narrating, it will truly take you away from reality.

Romantic Suspense, Bodyguard, Single Mom

This is one of those books that I knew I would like and I was right! I really enjoyed this book. It is a romantic suspense that takes place in Scotland. I love Scotland and the Scottish accent so the audiobook was great for me.
The heroine, Sloane, is a single mom who fled to Scotland after a bad situation with the father of her baby. She is now working as a housekeeper for a members-only haven for famous people who need some peace. The hero, Walker, is a grumpy and broody bodyguard for one of the owners of the club.
When Sloane's past catches up to her Walker ends up taking over keeping her safe.
I loved the setting of this book and the story kept me entranced the whole way. I will definitely be picking up book 2.

Narration is everything!! wonderful story/tale

Wow this Audible version of Beyond the Thistles was amazing. Shane East gave an outstanding performance that really made the characters come to life . An absolutely swoon worthy listen. Better than all the Adair series put together. 5+ stars all the way. But please finish the last book of the Adair series on Audible for all of us with eye problems that can't read and love to listen. And use Shane again 😍

SO GOOD

I loved this book! A lot!

Walker is so broody and gruff and closed off and Sloane just truly wants him to take notice of her! The push and pull between them was full of angst but they both never stopped fighting for their hea together.

Absolutely love escaping to the highlands!walker and Sloane’s story was amazing! Cannot wait to read what’s coming next

You get lost in the story like it's real. Such a wonderful storyline full.of all the emotions possible. I haven't read or listened to a book this good in a long while.

Book & Audio Review

This ones for my romance girlies who like a little suspense in their books! Beyond the thistles isnt your run of the mill romance this book had plot, suspense, heartbreak, character growth. You have Sloane, single mom to Callie, who’s been dealt a raw hand by Callies father. She’s looking to start over with the help of a family who runs a swanky estate for celebrities looking to escape in the Scottish highlands. While there she meets brooding bodyguard Walker. Both of them have a past, both of them have secrets. I was hooked from chapter one, this book was certainly a page turner because I just needed to know what was going to happen and how it all was gonna play out!

Lets also talk about this audio book. Probably one of the best audiobooks ive listen to in awhile. This book of course is set in scotland. Shane East SOLD the scottish accent to me. Ive also been listing to stella hunters audio’s for awhile and she never disappoints!
