Compared to Charles' other books, this is more about no dig, eliminating weeds, garden layout, compost making, and using compost. There is also a history of no-dig vegetable gardening in the last 100 years. I want listeners to understand the context and the reasons why no dig has not been much valued until recently, and why it is now. This audiobook has 18 sections, covering the key methods and wonderful results of no dig, from starting with weeds to sowing and planting straightaway, and cropping soon after.

Fossil fuels and livestock grazing are often targeted as major culprits behind climate change and desertification. But Allan Savory, cofounder of the Savory Institute, begs to differ. The bigger problem, he warns, is our mismanagement of resources. Livestock grazing is not the problem; it's how we graze livestock. If we don't change the way we approach land management, irreparable harm from climate change could continue long after we replace fossil fuels.

Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain, yet we know very little about how it works. Gut: The Inside Story is an entertaining, informative tour of the digestive system from the moment we raise a tasty morsel to our lips until the moment our body surrenders the remnants to the toilet bowl. No topic is too lowly for the author's wonder and admiration, from the careful choreography of breaking wind to the precise internal communication required for a cleansing vomit.

You may think you don’t have the time or the money to start a big permaculture project. But permaculture doesn’t need to be overwhelming. You can start as small as you like, and you can move at a pace that suits you. Don’t feel you have to learn everything in one go and rush out to transform a whole wilderness in a year. Just deal in manageable chunks, and you’ll do just fine. Even if all you have done is tend to a few tomato plants on your window ledge, you can become an expert gardener; all it takes is a little time, patience, and practice.

I Am Ready To Get My Hands Dirty!
It was a pleasure listening to "Think Like An Ecosystem" on audible. A well written book that kept my attention throughout.
In this book, the author introduces the concept of permaculture and illustrates how we can apply it to our everyday lives in a practical manner. Learning about the interconnectedness of all living things and how to create sustainable systems from nature was particularly interesting.
The book is also very comprehensive, covering a wide range of topics related to permaculture. The information on soil was particularly compelling, as it is such an important aspect of our ecosystem that is often overlooked.
Overall, "Think Like An Ecosystem" is a great introduction to permaculture that is both informative and inspiring. Those interested in sustainable living and creating a better future for our planet should definitely check it out.

As I've slowly been getting into gardening and landscaping, I've been searching out some books on how it all fits together. I was drawn to this one immediately, and - wow - it's a great book. So many things about the ecosystem that should have been obvious, but I'd never thought about them before. You'll really enjoy this. And the narrator is excellent too.
