Resumen del Editor
When was the last time someone around you brought up World War Two?
It’s a pretty popular war. Maybe you heard about it yesterday. Maybe last month. But it was probably recent. And when it came up, did you wish that you could be the one to casually drop a fact that would have everyone in the room going, “Wow, I never knew that!”
With this audiobook, you can be that person.
You can listen to it just a few minutes a day.
Chapters are bite-sized and easy-to-read, meant for normal people instead of war historians!
Each chapter ends with a bonus helping of trivia and some quick questions to test your knowledge.
You’ll zoom through this book and be hungry for more.
Get ready to impress your friends with your knowledge–not just of the main events of World War Two, but of all the gritty details and weird true facts. By the time you finish this book, you’ll have a fact for every occasion, from the first moment someone thought about having a Second World War, to the most recent blockbuster movies about it.
So get ready to meet characters from Adolf Hitler, rejected art student, to Jack Churchill, the broadsword-swinging male model. Find out why World War Two started in the first place, and why it’s never a good idea to invade Russia in winter. Learn why the United States was going to stay out of the war, how Canadians stole airplanes for the British, and what an orange soft drink has to do with the Nazis.
Some of the things you’re going to learn are sad. Some are scary. Some are sexy. And some are downright strange! It’s everything your history teacher never got around to telling you.

Germany is one of the richest and most influential countries in the world, which is amazing when you consider that the nation is only about the size of the US states of Oregon and Washington combined. It’s even more astounding when you consider that at the end of World War II, every major German city (and many minor ones) had been flattened by the Allied bombing campaign. Still more amazing is that the country has gone from international pariah and home of the Holocaust to one of the most well-regarded and humanitarian nations on Earth.

If history really belongs to the victor, what happens when there's more than one side declaring victory? That's the conundrum Norman Davies unravels in his groundbreaking book No Simple Victory. Far from being a revisionist history, No Simple Victory instead offers a clear-eyed reappraisal, untangling and setting right the disparate claims made by America, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union in order to get at the startling truth.

On December 7, 1941, the nation of Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and prompted the United States’ entry into the bloodiest war in human history. Americans have long debated the cause of the bombing; many have argued that the attack was a brilliant Japanese military coup or a failure of US intelligence agencies or even a conspiracy of the Roosevelt administration. But despite the attention historians have paid to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the truth about that fateful day has remained a mystery - until now.

The end of the Second World War in Europe is one of the 20th century's most iconic moments. It is fondly remembered as a time when cheering crowds filled the streets, danced, drank and made love until the small hours. These images of victory and celebration are so strong in our minds that the period of anarchy and civil war that followed has been forgotten. Across Europe, landscapes had been ravaged, entire cities razed and more than thirty million people had been killed in the war.

Laurence Rees has spent 25 years meeting the survivors and perpetrators of the Third Reich and the Holocaust. In this sweeping history, he combines this testimony with the latest academic research to investigate how history's greatest crime was possible. Rees argues that while hatred of the Jews was at the epicenter of Nazi thinking, we cannot fully understand the Holocaust without considering Nazi plans to kill millions of non-Jews as well.

Was World War II really the 'Good War'? In the years since the declaration of peace in 1945, many myths have sprung up around the conflict in the victorious nations. In this audiobook, Peter Hitchens deconstructs the many fables which have become associated with the narrative of the 'Good War'. Whilst not criticising or doubting the need for war against Nazi Germany at some stage, Hitchens does query whether September 1939 was the right moment or the independence of Poland the right issue.

In the 70 years since the demise of the Third Reich, there has been a significant transformation in the ways in which the modern world understands Nazism. In this brilliant and eye-opening collection, Richard J. Evans offers a critical commentary on that transformation, exploring how major changes in perspective have informed research and writing on the Third Reich in recent years. Drawing on his most notable writings, Evans reveals the shifting perspectives on Nazism's rise to political power, its economic intricacies, and its subterranean extension into postwar Germany.

Israel is a tiny state, and yet it has captured the world's attention, aroused its imagination, and, lately, been the object of its opprobrium. Why does such a small country speak to so many global concerns? More pressingly: Why does Israel make the decisions it does? And what lies in its future? We cannot answer these questions until we understand Israel's people and the questions and conflicts, the hopes and desires, that have animated their conversations and actions.

WAR. It will happen again. We must be ready. Sober words from Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a man who has made the unvarnished truth his specialty. And there’s one eternal truth that Americans are in danger of forgetting: the most important weapon in any geopolitical conflict is the will to win. And we must win. In this powerful manifesto, Dr. Gorka explains the basic principles that have guided strategists since Sun Tzu penned The Art of War in the sixth century BC. To defeat your enemy, you must know him. But that’s the last thing liberal elites are interested in.

The Not-So-Trivial Trivia Book
This is a book that reveals the significance of the little-known details of World War II, with a cohesiveness that unifies the work. From the sino-japanese war to the US providing planes through Canada before we ever joined the war, Bill O'Neill's book tells the rest of the story with fluent and expressive narration. I recommend this book for those interested in World War II and its ramifications for today.

Great presentation of little know facts about WW2
This is my second book by Bill O’Neill and he continues to excel as an author. I first started with his 80’s trivia because I thought it would be a great “Blast from the Past”. I was surprised by how much info I picked up from it. I think it is a great way to learn facts that you may not have already know. Best to listen to on a long drive so you can really focus on the facts. Love the format of these books. The quizzes are a great feature. Very enjoyable listen. 5 stars.

Great intro to WW2!
Would you consider the audio edition of The World War 2 Trivia Book: Interesting Stories and Random Facts from the Second World War to be better than the print version?
I would like to start off by saying I enjoyed the audiobook version of this. The chapters are short enough that for commuting it works very well. The only small gripe I have is the list of facts at the end of each chapter get monotonous to listen to.
1.
2.
...
21
And so on... The good news is that the lists only take a few minutes to go through.
What about Derek Newman’s performance did you like?
Clear tone that isn't monotonous. Great enunciation and diction. Excellent performance!
Any additional comments?
I feel like this is a great INTRODUCTION to a ton of great topics on the war!
Briefly mentioned are things like the night of the long knives, d-day, and Both the pacific and Italian campaigns. There are also mentions of other books, memoirs etc.
If you are interested in a possibly the best memoir of any grunt ever in any war I would recommend Eugene Sledge's With the Old Breed.....

Your New Go To WWII Fact Book!
This was a perfect book to get information on the topic of World War 2 when looking for a bit of a refresher and some new interesting facts. It walks you through the entire war in chronological order and gives you the main points with a lot of extra colorful details that are not widely known. It was kept short and to the point so it is an easy and highly interesting listen. I definitely recommend this book and I'll definitely be looking into getting a print copy as well.

Great Introduction to WW2
I am a big fan of the World War I Trivia Book and the World War II Trivia Book maintains the prior volume’s high standards. I’ve been reading about World War II for decades and I can’t think of a better way to introduce someone to the complicated mess that spiraled into the most destructive war in human history. The authors feed you the narrative like a seven-course meal, breaking it up in easy to follow themes and then further dividing into bite-sized sections that make digestion easy and enjoyable.
I already knew the basic narrative so I focused most strongly on the many vignettes—such morsels as the Battle of Stalingrad or examples of sacrifices made on the home front. The most moving sections had to do with the Holocaust—especially their discussions of Anne Frank.
If you’re looking for a quick introduction to World War II, this Trivia Book is a wonderful place to start. I’m going to continue with their history of Vietnam.

Nothing Trivial About This Book
As was my complaint about other Bill O’Neill books, I think saying these are trivia books is a huge discredit to the work and the author. And that is especially true with “The World War II Trivia Book”. There are a lot of terrific back-stories in this book but none more important, in my opinion, than the interim “between the wars”. The holdover issues from World War I were instrumental in seeding the calamity that was World War II. O’Neill does an especially good job of covering the issues in 1930’s Asia and how WW II in the Pacific theater didn’t really begin on December 7, 1941. Excellent insight.
Derek Newman lends a credible tone to the book; an excellent job on his part as well.

Overview of the War with trivia
Bill O'Neill's WW2 trivia book is a quick overview of the entire history of the war. For those who know only the extreme basics on the war, this book provides a quick overview of the key players, events and outcomes. It explains some of the history leading to the war (such as the Sino-Japanese War that some consider the actual start of WW2, several years before Hitler did his part). For those that know WW2 reasonably well there is still some new and interesting items in here, mainly in the tiny tidbits and weird trivia that aren't as well known.
The book is broken into six parts, covering the nitty gritty details, but also some strange facts. It is mostly chronological, but jumps around a little bit, as required, to cover related topics and events. Each section ends with some quick dot point facts and then a trivia quiz, to test how well you were listening to the prior chapter.
Overall, an enjoyable and interesting listen.
Narration by Derek Newman is good. Clear and easy to follow, he is well paced. Nothing exciting in the narration but good solid, enjoyable work.
