Hardly anyone ever leaves Des Moines, Iowa. But Bill Bryson did, and after 10 years in England he decided to go home, to a foreign country. In an ageing Chevrolet Chevette, he drove nearly 14,000 miles through 38 states to compile this hilarious and perceptive state-of-the-nation report on small-town America.

Story
Tired of the pace and noise of life near London and longing for a better place to raise their young children, Mary J. MacLeod and her husband, George, encountered their dream while vacationing on a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. Enthralled by its windswept beauty, they soon were the proud and startled owners of a near-derelict croft house - a farmer’s stone cottage - on “a small acre” of land. Mary assumed duties as the island’s district nurse.

Story
The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

Story
Thoreau gives an account of three canoe and hiking journeys - by himself and with others - through the mostly uninhabited forests of Maine in the 1850s. Identifying birds, trees and plants by their botanical as well as their common names, he also records the Indian names of lakes, rivers and plants. He investigates the connections between waterways and trails, and provides detail on camping, fishing and hunting in the woods, using whatever is at hand. Extolling the beauty of the wilds that he encounters, Thorough’s narrative is also imbued with elements of his philosophy.

Amazing Audiobook for the Travel Junkie!!
I consider myself a travel junkie. My wife and I love traveling the globe. We enjoy exploring Europe and the Carribean Islands. Recently, we discussed the fact that we need to start traveling America more and all the beauty that exists right here at home. We are really glad we came across this gem as it is loaded with amazing places to visit. I have been to a few of the recommendations in here such as the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, Route 66 in Arizona, and the Green Mountain of Vermont. They are all inspiring journeys that I personally recommend. After listening to this book, we have decided that we definitely want to check out the Pacific Coast Highway and Shenandoah National Park. Purchase this audiobook, and then decide what adventure awaits you!

Epic 15 Bucket List Travel Guide contains a variety of exciting trips with sites to see and activities to do in various locations, such as the "Blue Whale" along Route 66 or Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course. The guide also provides information on how many days to schedule a trip, what time of year is best, road conditions, restaurants, lodging, and overall costs. There is a whole chapter on exploring the Appalachia Mountains, a place I have yet to explore! Listening to this book inspires my curiosity and enthusiasm to explore America. I will listen again and take notes for my next trip. This is a must-have book to listen to or read when preparing to hit the road.

Immerse Yourself in Travel Adventures
I recently finished The Epic 15 Bucket List Travel Guide - Wheels and Wanderlust by Golden Sun Ray Adventures and I am absolutely in love with this audiobook. The author does a wonderful job of providing detailed information about 15 incredible road trips to take and highlights some of the most iconic routes in the United States. From the captivating Pacific Coast Highway to charming small towns, this guide offers a diverse array of experiences and destinations to discover. What truly sets this audiobook apart is its ability to inspire wanderlust and curiosity. My favorite highlight was learning about the eeriness of ghost towns and the allure of abandoned mines. I also loved the accompanying PDF, which provided some awesome links to maps of the various routes that the audiobook mentioned. Ferrand's narration brings these travel adventures to life, making it an immersive and engaging experience for listeners. If you have wanderlust coursing through your veins and are itching for an adventure, this audiobook is the ultimate travel companion. Happy driving! I would highly recommend this audiobook to all travelers, food enthusiasts, and adventure-seekers alike.

Really Great Travel Guide, unlike any other!
I hope the author makes another travel guide like this one, because this is by FAR the best I have come across. This audiobook is more than just a "travel guide". It is a thoughtful conversation that tells you not only the places to stop and see but SO, SO, SO much more. Its not a glorified list of places to stop and see, like checking things off on a list. This audiobook gives everything flavor and description and a purpose. In addition to the big, must-see places, it lets you know about smaller, lesser known awesome places to stop and check out and why you should see them. As I was listening to this audiobook and planning our trip to the west coast I felt like I was listening to a travel guide that had curated a trip for me taking into consideration all possible options and interesting places. This is really a great audiobook, you can tell the author has done these trips and has really thought about the best possible itineraries; its great!

Pack your bags and enjoy!
With my kids getting older and the prospect of more free time looming, the travel itch has gotten real! Then I stumbled upon this book and it completely ignited my wanderlust. It's not just a list of destinations; it paints a vivid picture of the journeys themselves. (So fun to dream out!) This book goes beyond the scenery though. It offers itineraries, each one promising a unique adventure. It's the perfect companion for anyone, like me, who's on the cusp of a new chapter filled with travel adventures.

As an avid traveller who has visited 78 countries, I found this book particularly interesting. Particular liked the chapter on the smoky mountains - have always wanted to go to Tennessee! The author really brings these places to life and makes you excited to go and see them! Can’t wait to start my adventures

Awesome Travel Tips
This audiobook is a delightful way to learn about fascinating locations to visit worldwide. I thought it was constructive that the author went into such depth to assist with the preparation of the trip and to offer tourists some advice on essential items to bring with them on their travels. This book provides a goldmine of information about some of the most exciting and memorable road journeys that can be taken in the United States.
In addition, I found it particularly interesting to learn about the road that served as the basis for the movie Cars and the opportunity to indulge in the regional cuisine of the Great Smoky Mountains. In addition, the guide is a necessary companion for everyone who enjoys going on road trips, such as the breathtaking scenery of Shenandoah National Park and the excitement of the adventure on the loneliest road in the US. This guidebook is informative and entertaining. You really must read this!
