Publisher's summary

Sold to the mob boss, now she becomes his prey.

I am Marcello Dellucci, new don of the Dellucci Mafia. And my devilish reign over the city has only just begun.

But when a beautiful girl steps onto the auction stage I forget everything I'm supposed to be. I want to claim her, no matter the cost. So I buy her body and take everything she has to give.

Now she’s my pet, my Kitten… My Harper. And I'm not ever letting her go.

She’s more precious than even she knows. And our dark pasts are more connected than either of us realize.

I will ruin anyone who dares to take her from me. Nothing will stand in between us.

Not even her.

Whew! So, I guess I like mafia romance now!

I've seen a lot of romance BookTok, ok? And I've been wondering for a while what I'm missing out on. When I saw the hype for Sold, I decided to check it out.

Spoiler alert: I'm a mafia romance girlie now. So, that happened.

First off, the story itself is a liiiiiittle bit weak. It moves quickly and almost outside of actual time. So, the romance is on fast forward and it's only been, like, a week. Harper suffers from what I call Ariel Syndrome. You know, "I'm sixteen years old! I'm not a child anymore!". To be clear, she's not 16, just sometimes makes the impulsive, poorly thought out decisions of a 16 year-old. But if you can suspend some disbelief you'll be good.

The real meat of this story comes from the narrators. Lawd. These two have some insaaaane chemistry. Ehlen Valentine perfectly embodies Harper, with youth, grit, determination and vulnerability. Her shock at this unexpected attraction, her indecision about what she has felt and now feels, and despair at a world she thought she knew being a façade. Ehlen has a wonderful emotional range that takes you in and makes it about so much more than the sex.

But talking of the sex...Gideon. Frost. His voice just doesn't quit. In turns deeply sexy, commanding, and touching. His vocal and character range perfectly complements Ehlen's, making a very steamy and heart wrenching performance.

I know Sold has a sequel, Owned, so I'll be tuning in for that. But I hope to see Ehlen and Gideon do a lot more together!! I think we deserve more of that kind of NarratorShip in our lives.

Not good!

I really wanted to like this book but it was so very bad!!! The plot would have been a great success if the story wasn’t missing so many pieces and the female character didn’t act like a naive bratty teenager in heat. There are so many pieces of the story missing. I swore I wasn’t going to waste a credit on the 2nd book but I did it anyway and now I’m on chapter 8 and it’s just as bad.
