So damn good...

great fantasy and new story... the magic capability is a little vague, abs power level is open to interpretation pretty often... but especially the choice acting is fantastic

Post Apocalyptic, Isekai, Tower Climber LitRPG

This book ambitiously combines a lot of sub-genres of LitRPG very well. The post apocalyptic beginning was a good introduction to Dren and Vox. Things really picked up when they isekai’d to a world with original game mechanics that almost feel like cultivation levels. The characters are really cool and have some unique characteristics that they gained from their own world. It is more tree climber than tower climber but still fun. The story was compelling and the world building immersive. Kramer was the perfect narrator for this book. Bravo.

Love this RPG story

I can’t not wait for Book 2.
This is a great take on a RPG story. I love all the characters. and of course having Kramer reading takes the story even higher.

Reminiscent but fun

The Voice actor is soooo fun!! Sky Thief is a delightful read that captivated me from start to finish. Its charm is reminiscent of some of the LitRPGs, blending whimsy with an engaging storyline. Highly recommended for those seeking a fun and memorable adventure.

Feel free to adjust as needed!

Brilliantly entertaining!

From the moment I was introduced to Dren, in his dystopian New New York, I was completely entertained.
The main character, Dren, is smart with a lot of sass, and his sidekick Vox is a great foil. But the real fun begins when his AI (a pair of glasses) is introduced. This is LOL humor as they banter their way through the new world that they literally fall into through a portal. Dren, a genetically modified human, is already agile and by his own words, a master thief, but he must level up and gain rank or… he dies, and he can die many times in this world.
The characters are great, the magic and world building are imaginative, and the stats are complex and interesting. It was fun to see all the skills and rankings that they had to acquire for items to work, and for them to … not die in a world where everyone, literally a gnat, is stronger than they are.
The one thing Wolf does exceedingly well is dialogue, and then to have Michael Kramer narrate it is truly the golden combination. I’m not sure who had more fun with this book, Wolf writing it, or Kramer as he narrated.
Do yourself a favor and have a listen. You will honestly be laughing out loud.

And I almost missed the bloopers at the end!! Stay for those.

Never disappoints!

I love the worlds that Matthew Wolf creates! I was first introduced to his magic in the Ronin Saga and am thrilled that it has continued in Skythief!! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Great litrpg!

Fantastic first book in a new world, with hints to a wider universe introduced in the authors other series The Ronin Saga. Which isn't required to read for this series, but should be read because it is fantastic as well. Looking forward to the continue journey into this series. And lastly, pancakes are amazing!

Needed an editor

The story had good world building and fight scenes, but there really needed to be an editor that would cut down on the useless banter between the main characters and the constant repetition of information. characters would say something, explain what it is, and then forget 5 minutes later, having it to be explained again. honestly, I was skipping through the ending because of how long and drawn out it was. I hope the author really takes the time to cut out unnecessary dialog in the next book.
