Publisher's summary

The combined efforts of Loren Parker, the Setalite City Hero HQ and the Peacekeepers are finally starting to make some progress in shifting the colossal weight of the Evergold Festival Conspiracy. But now, as each horrific layer is peeled back and the masterminds are dragged unwillingly out into the light, Loren Parker starts to realize that having all the time in the world might not be as big of a blessing as he first thought.

could have been better

unfortunately this book loves suffering, it spends wayyyy too much time and too many words to describe constant suffering. I think the author should have cut about an hour from this book or changed some of the writing so that it doesn't start to feel like a waste of words. A tip for future books author, suffering is only effective when applied sparingly otherwise it just becomes depressing and creates an apathy within the reader.
I put the last hour of this book on 2 times speed, I have almost never done that with any of the other 500 audio books I have listened to, unless it was to speed through a litrpg stat sheet. I loved a lot of this book but the last hour and a half are a slog. I don't need to be reminded a THOUSAND TIMES about how hard everything is for the MC. Not to mention I thought of several ways to solve the predicament our MC was in, so it kind of made him look like an idiot and a crybaby, while also feeling like a lack of finesse on the authors part for being unable to find a better writing solution.
I will say that the very end, similar to book 1 leaves me with hope that things will pick up again but it still feels like this book wasted my time a bit. If i get the next book, I hope that the author can reduce some of the self pity. I understand trying to make the main character as human as possible but he whines too much. Oh and one more thing, if that Tag along the MC has now at the end of this book becomes an annoying plot device in the next book, or is used to pad out the dialogue in the next book, it will unfortunately become one of the few books I will have refunded.
