Story
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time
The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Story
It is a world like our own in every respect, save one. In the 1950s, random acts of possession begin to occur. Ordinary men, women, and children are the targets of entities that seem to spring from the depths of the collective unconscious, pop-cultural avatars some call demons. As a boy, Del Pierce is possessed by the Hellion, an entity whose mischief-making can be deadly. With the help of Del's family and a caring psychiatrist, the demon is exorcised... or is it?

From the Stone Age to the Greek Tragedies, from Shakespeare to Robin Hood, we have always had our heroes. The hero is at the centre of formative myths in every culture and persists to this day in world-conquering books, films and TV shows. STILL IN PROCESS OF LISTENING TO IT, BUT.....
How did the narrator detract from the book?
DID NOT LIKE THE NARRTOR, DID NOT PUT ENOUGH INTO THE CHARACTERS OR EVEN THE STORY...HE IS BORING!THIS GUY IS SO BORING I DON'T EVEN WANT TO LISTEN TO HIM, LITERALLY PUTS ME TO SLEEP;ALMOST MONOTONE, LIKE HE ISN'T EVEN ENJOYING THE STORY!
Any additional comments?
WHY DO THE AUTHORS CHANGE THE NARRATOR IN THEIR SERIES...DICK HILL DID AN EXECELENT NARRATING JOB AND HAD EXCITEMENT IN HIS VOICE...AUTHOR MADE A HUGH MISTAKE BY CHANGING HIS NARRATOR....LEE CHILD, KEEP THE SAME NARRATOR IN YOUR SERIES, DICK HILL WAS EXTREMELY GOOD AT ADDING EXCITEMENT TO THE STORY LINE, HE KNOWS THE CHARACTERS AND MAKE THEM COME ALIVE

Great book
I love the jack Reacher series. although I wish once or twice he would be able to have a happy ending with the love story. All of the adventures that he has are great his traveling from one place to another is Carefree and seems like a nice kind of approach to life for a short period of time. I hope eventually though he finds a place to settle down and find happiness where he is. I will never stop reading these books. I can't get enough of the adventures he goeson . the Mysteries are great the writing it's wonderful the characters never fell to tug at your heart.

True to the character of Jack Reacher...
I enjoyed this book. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it was not exceptional. Jack Reacher is a character that I got to know in the first book, Killing Floor. I bought this one right after I read the first. I probably should have gone back to another series first, then purchase the book. It is definitely its own story. The backround from the first book was not as important as I thought it should have been. If you aren't familiar with Jack, go ahead and buy this. I'm sure I will buy more in the future. But I need a little break from the Reacher series.
But I really like the style of Lee Child. His writing is very compelling and wants you to read more and more.

Die Trying- Great story, excellent presentation.
My daughter suggested me trying an audiobook and picked this story to give me a little diversion on a long trip. It more than fulfilled that job. I found myself totally immersed in the story and the characters. I have already purchased two more Jack Reacher audiobooks and look forward to getting involved with his next adventure. My compliments to Lee Child.

almost perfect
My only negative comment concerns the accuracy of the author, not the reader. The ballistic information is very inaccurate. The ammo ballistics were quoted in miles per hour. It should be feet per second. The author claims a 5.56mm bullet travels 2,000 mph. Not so. Other calibers were also described in miles per hour.

Liked it. Didn’t love it.
This is my probably 4th time through the series. I watch the new amazon prime series and got me back into it again. I can’t imagine them using this book for season 2. I guess time will tell
