As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. Everyone refers to the St. Cecelia as “the Saint.” If you grew up coming here, you were “a Saint.” If you came from the wrong side of the river, you were “an Ain’t.” Traci Eddings was one of those outsiders whose family wasn’t rich enough or connected enough to vacation here. But she could work here. One fateful summer she did, and married the boss’s son. Now, she’s the widowed owner of the hotel, determined to see it return to its glory days, even as staff shortages and financial troubles threaten to ruin it. Plus, her greedy and unscrupulous brother-in-law wants to make sure she fails.

Anna Green thought she was marrying Liam “West” Weston for access to subsidized family housing while at UCLA. She also thought she’d signed divorce papers when the graduation caps were tossed, and they both went on their merry ways. Three years later, Anna is a starving artist living paycheck to paycheck while West is a Stanford professor. He may be one of four heirs to the Weston Foods conglomerate, but he has little interest in working for the heartless corporation his family built from the ground up. He is interested, however, in his one-hundred-million-dollar inheritance.

I’ve got a list of people I absolutely don’t ever want to be stuck with on a boat, or a plane, or a train, and it starts and ends with the broody, grumpy, too-sexy-for-my-own good Axel Huxley. Also known as this romance novelist’s number one nemesis. The man is legendary for his mighty pen and his even mightier scowl. I tried to work together with the cocky thriller writer once upon a time, but the two of us are like vodka and good decisions. We don’t play well together.

Young widow Bella Sunshine-Caldwell is focused only on raising her daughter and running the family business, Sunshine Bridal. There’s no time for romance - especially with her fellow wedding planner, Gabe, whom she’s growing increasingly attracted to. He’s too enterprising to stay in Cape May for long, anyway. And too tall, dark, and handsome to be anything but a heartbreaker.

Vaughn is everything I’m supposed to stay away from. Sexy. Cocky. And famous. You see, I grew up in a family full of wealthy celebrities. My father, Luke Williams, is the celebrity of all celebrities. And because of that, he sheltered my siblings and me from everything Hollywood. We didn’t attend premieres. We weren’t photographed. There were no friendships with other celebrities’ children. But now, at 25, I’m ready to start my life, working for my father’s production company - until Vaughn Barrymore walks through the door.

Publisher's summary
A destination wedding in Italy’s Lake Como brings three best friends back together to face the secrets of the past in this romantic novel from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.
Best friends Ava, Madison, and Chelsea made a pact to reunite for each other’s weddings when their careers sent them in different directions. But after one of them makes a choice that tears the group apart, an upcoming wedding might be their last chance to heal old wounds.
Ava is about to marry the man she loves in a lavish ceremony on the shores of Lake Como, but she’s haunted by the mistakes she’s made.
Madison’s made a name for herself as an influencer in the fashion world but is threatened by a scandal impacting everything she holds dear.
And Chelsea has the perfect family she always craved, but her professional dreams have fallen by the wayside.
As they return to Italy’s gorgeous coast, the three women revisit their life-changing first trip to Lake Como during college. When Madison comes face-to-face with the college sweetheart who was at the heart of one of the most pivotal times of her life, can they forge a new way forward?

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

The trip was supposed to be fun. When Kit’s best friend gets dumped by his boyfriend, he begs her to ditch her family responsibilities for an idyllic weekend in the Montana mountains. My dad is protective. Scratch that. He's like the person who would grab a chair, place it on the lawn, and watch me walk across the street just to deliver an apple. So, when a bet between the rude, good-looking guy across the way becomes a full-on battle, it turns into absolute chaos. He says my degree is useless and that I'm a rich, spoiled princess. I say he's an idiot who only knows how to fix motorcycles and is incapable of having a clean-shaven face. He gives me a tiara. Thanks. I buy him a razor. Perfect.

Heartbreaking
I have loved the books I've read by Jennifer Probst in the past. This is the first book I've read/listened to in this series. I plan to listen to the other two books after researching them first. This is a great standalone as I didn't feel like I missed anything from not reading the first two books. I first read this ebook, then listened to the audiobook to see if my opinions changed. They have not.
Romance is my normal genre. I would say this is more women's fiction/chick lit rather than romance. Mostly because the girl's relationship seems like the focus. If the ending had been expanded, I might would change my opinion on this.
There were beautiful descriptions of Italy that had me spellbound. The story about friends and their very different backgrounds/lives that intrigued me. But as much as I loved it, I hated it as well. This needs to be said, because if I had known, I would not have picked up this book...there is cheating by main characters. It is not glorified or acceptable, so I kept on reading although I thought I'd be sick. There's a toxic aspect of the friendships, and with the cheating, it made this a very hard read for me. It hit so close to home. I cried and my heart pounded and squeezed with pain for the characters. I honestly didn't like how it played out and I can't say why without giving too much away. BUT I couldn’t put it down! The writing is beautiful, there's flawed characters, friendships, forgiveness... And the ending was not what I expected. I can say that I won't forget this book.
Carlotta Brentan is a new to me narrator. Her performance was excellent! I loved her voice.
